A Growing Issue

Non-biodegradable plastics continue to enter the market as gift cards each year.

Earth-friendly materials including corn-based plastics allow logos and graphics to change their look over time. This creates an issue for retailers and brands as they need to replace these cards on sales racks more often. Card manufacturers have told us that they will continue to use non-biodegradable plastics until this issue is addressed. Our best option is to continue to urge retailers to adopt card recycling policies through this program!
